Tabor split their games with the Southwestern Moundbuilders Saturday night in Hillsboro.
The women lost, 55-46. The game was tied at 46 when Shannon Kroker hit a 10 footer for Tabor with 3:37 to play, but the Bluejays could not get the ball to fall through the hoop the rest of the way, allowing the Builders a 9-0 run to end the game.
Rachelle Wertenberger was the only Bluejay to reach double figures, finishing with 10. Tabor’s top scorer, Casey Stucky, had a tough shooting night, finishing with only two baskets in 15 attempts. As a team, the Bluejays shot 31 percent from the field.
In the men’s game, Tabor led by nine points at halftime, allowed Southwestern to creep back in the game — and even to lead by a point about midway through — but then battle back to preserve the win, 74-68.
Scott Brubacher led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points, including four 3-pointers. The Ratzlaff brothers, Tyson and Micah, each added 13 and Brad Gattis scored 11. As a team, Tabor shot an even 40 percent from the field while holding their opponents to 34 percent shooting.
