Tabor sweeps Ottawa

The Tabor College women improved their record to 7-7 overall, and 3-2 in the KCAC Thursday night in Hillsboro, by defeating the Ottawa Braves 71-54.

Tabor led by eight at the half, and built their lead to as many as 23. The Tabor defense stymied the Braves offense, allowing the Braves to only shoot a paltry 29%.

Meanwhile, the Bluejays offense passed the ball with precision, and was credited with 22 assists on 28 baskets.

Erica Hemmert led Tabor with 16, followed closely by Rachelle Wertenberger with 15, and Angela Kroeker adding 14.

The Tabor men made it three in a row, holding on for a 73-63 victory over the Braves.

Tabor jumped on Ottawa early and often, building a 16 point half time lead. That lead would swell to 26 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the contest.

Ottawa mounted a furious comeback to pull within eight, with still four minutes remaining, before Tabor was able to hold off the late Ottawa charge.

Micah Ratzlaff led four Tabor players in double figures with 14.

With the win, Tabor improves its record to 7-7 overall, and 2-3 in league play.
