Megan Marie Schmidt and Chelan DeAric Duerksen were married Nov. 2 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in rural Goessel with pastors Jim Dunn and Travis Schmidt officiating the double-ring ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Myron and Pat Schmidt and Duane and Agatha Duerksen, all of Goessel.

Matron of honor was Vanessa Schroeder, sister of the bride. Best man was Treg Duerksen, brother of the groom.

Bridesmaids were Letha Buller of Laramie, Wyo., Jodi Ostlund of Moundridge and Amy Flaming of Newton. Flower carriers were Addison Schroeder, niece of the bride, and Cale McCabe, nephew of the groom.

Groomsmen were Chad Lindeman and Brandon Unruh, both of Goessel, and Matt McCabe of Hutchinson.

Ushers were Matt Flaming and Jeremy Voth, both of Goessel, Cameron Fast of Marceline, Mo., and Pat Flaming of Newton.

Gift carriers were Jenny Goertzen and Kindra Goertzen, both cousins of the groom, Erin Hiebert, cousin of the bride, and Linessa Duerksen of Goessel.

Musicians were vocalists Jim Ostlund and Jake Schmidt, organist Karen Unruh and pianist Erica Schmidt.

The bride wore a dutchess satin A-line gown with thick spaghetti straps. The empire bodice of the one-piece gown was delicately scattered with sequins and featured a simple floral embroidery. The hemline was trimmed with a band of satin that coordinated with the bodice. The back featured satin-covered buttons and a semi-cathedral-length train.

The reception was held in the Goessel Junior High School gymnasium following the ceremony. It was hosted by Jim and Mary Schmidt, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Ivan and Kathy Schmidt, uncle and aunt of the groom.

Reception assistants were friends and relatives of the couple.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Goessel High School and a 2001 graduate of Bethel College. She is a fifth-grade teacher at Goessel Elementary School.

The groom is a 1993 graduate of GHS and a 1997 graduate of Kansas State University. He is a lab-test technician at Agco Corp. in Hesston.

The rehearsal dinner was held on Nov. 1 in the fellowship hall of the church and was hosted by the groom’s parents. The dinner was catered by Country Blessings.

After a honeymoon in New England, the couple resides in rural Goessel.
