And they wrapped him in swaddling clothes….

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN DON RATZLAFF
As Joseph (Josh Schmidt) watches, Mary (Darla Funk) lays the “Baby Jesus” in the feed trough of a barn they shared with numerous animals-and a dozen or so human spectators, too, at the annual “Night in the Barn” event sponsored by Tabor-Goessel Youth Group Saturday night. To the left is Tara Goerzen, who was a narrator in the production and led in singing familiar carols. Off camera to the right was Ben Schmidt, who took on the role of the innkeeper who, according to the biblical account, directed the blessed couple to the barn some 2,000 years ago. “Night in the Barn,” which included carol-singing around a bonfire and a barnyard full of animals, was presented Sunday evening, too. Group sponsor Carol Duerksen said they were expecting 400 to 500 people to come-and-go during the two evenings. Admission was by donation.
