Etta Mae Plenert, 77

Etta Mae Plenert, 77, homemaker and licensed cosmetologist, died Nov. 14 at the The Cedars in McPherson.

The funeral was Nov. 18 at First United Methodist Church in McPherson with pastor Michael Marion officiating. Burial was at McPherson Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 5, 1925, to Ferd and Mabel (Olsen) Matz in Lyons. On Jan. 31, 1947, she was married to Roland P. Plenert, who survives.

She is also survived by four sons, Darrell, Richard and Mike Plenert, all of McPherson, and Jerry Plenert of Moundridge; one daughter, Joyce Gingrich of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, Elton Matz of Lincolnville; three sisters, Margaret Steinert of Raytown, Mo., Jean McCallister of Des Moines, Iowa, and Phyllis Schafer of Canyon City, Colo.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with The Cedars or the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home in McPherson.

LaVerna Redger, 83

LaVerna M. Redger, 83, homemaker, died Nov. 13 in rural Tampa.

The funeral was Nov. 16 at Church of God in Christ Mennonite Morning Star Church in rural Tampa with pastor Ransom Wiebe officiating. Burial was at Logan Cemetery in rural Tampa.

She was born May 14, 1919, to C.C. and Helen (Ratzloff) Wedel in rural Moundridge. On Nov. 11, 1945, she was married to Henry Redger, who survives.

She is also survived by two sons, Norman Redger and wife Sharon of DeRidder, La., and Jim Redger and wife Annette of Tiller, Ark.; two daughters, Kathy Friesen and husband Harry of Birnie, Manitoba, and Donna Koehn and husband Darrell of Moundridge; two brothers, Harry Wedel and Art Wedel, both of rural Tampa; one sister-in-law, Amanda Wedel of Durham; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A memorial was established with Morning Star Church.

Marie Goertzen, 91

Marie Goertzen, 91, physical therapist, died Nov. 14 in Joseph, Ore.

The funeral was Nov. 19 at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel with pastor Lowell Hunefeld officiating. Burial was at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 29, 1910, to Bernard and Katheryn (Dick) Thiessen in Munich, N.D. On Oct. 25, 1930, she was married to Peter Goertzen, who predeceased her in 2000.

She is survived by one son, Eugene Goertzen of Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Danelda Klein of Hillsboro, Blanche Hunefeld of Brazil and Deloree Loewen of Joseph, Ore.; 27 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

A memorial was established with the Pregnancy Crisis Center.
