“We are frustrated.”

Tabor College head coach Tim McCarty uttered this statement under his breath Saturday afternoon after a heart-breaking loss to Saint Mary College, 22-15.

“None of us are happy,” McCarty added. “We had plenty of opportunities today.”

The Bluejays struggled to find the endzone throughout the day despite numerous opportunities.

But Tabor wrapped up 382 total yard on offense, more than half coming in the first half.

On their opening drive, the Spires scored on a 1-yard dive, giving them a 7-0 lead after the PAT.

Tabor responded with a 74-yard touchdown pass from Dave Hernandez to Layne Frick. The Jays tied it up at seven after the PAT.

In the fourth quarter, both teams added touchdowns and PAT’s, but neither could finish the game off in regulation.

In the overtime period, the Spires’ quarterback ran it in from 8-yards out to give Saint Mary a 22-15 lead after the PAT.

Tabor threw four incomplete passes to close out the game, and preserve the win for the Spires.

Coming – The Jays are 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the KCAC. Next Saturday Tabor travels to Ottawa to take on the Braves.
