The Tabor women placed 12th out of 13 teams at the NAIA Mid-States Classic cross country meet hosted by Southwestern College Friday.

The meet featured some of the top-ranked teams in the country.

Angie Jost was the only Bluejay to earn a top-20 medal, placing 19th in 19 minutes 38 seconds.

Following her were Karen Patton, 28th in 20:09, Emily Aldis, 59th in 21:29; Tia Akers, 83rd in 22:36, Sarah Frick, 85th in 22:50, Esther Richert, 89th in 23:14 and Erin Voth, 93rd in 23:51.

For the men, Kevin Nickel was the top finisher, placing 66th in 27:55. Following him were Ryan Sperling, 113th in 30:06, Matt Lynam, 118th in 30:44, and Will Higerd, 130th in 32:58.

“Although our finish places are not what we have been having, we posted some of our best times,” said coach Karol Hunt. “Eight of 11 runners either ran a personal record or a season-best time.”

For the women, Jost, Patton, Akers and Frick ran a season-best time. Nickel, Lynam, Higerd and Sperling did the same for the men.

Tabor will compete next in the KCAC meet Nov. 2 at Bill Burke Park in Salina. The men will run at 10:30 a.m. and the men at 11:15.
