Junior runningback Steven Boone hit paydirt five times Friday night to help the Warriors to their second-straight win. Marion defeated Council Grove 39-7 and is 3-2 overall for the year.

“We kept doing the things we needed to do to win,” head coach Grant Thierolf said after the game. “After we jumped out to the early lead you start thinking that things were going to be easy. I think we have our kids in the right positions now and we’re in a good situation to do some good things.”

Jason Matz added a late touchdown on an interception to counter Boone’s five touchdowns. Boone finished with 111 yards on the ground on 16 carries, while quarterback Clayton Chamberland finished with 71 yards rushing on 11 carries.

Coming – Marion will travel to Herington next Friday to do battle vs. the Railers.
