Local boys build their own skateboard dream

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Several enterprising Hillsboro boys were busy making their dreams become reality last week. Pictured above are (from left) Daniel Berg, 13, Josh Funk, 15, Neil Ollenburger, 14, and Daniel Miller, 13, who were busy building a “mini half-pipe” skateboard ramp in the Berg family’s backyard on South Washington Street. The boys designed the project, collected materials-mostly free- from family, neighbors and a local business or two-and did almost all the work themselves. They said they hoped the city would build a skateboard park, but that hasn’t happened yet. They said three other friends, Daniel Bookless, 14, Josh Jost, 14, and Joseph Fisher, 11, have been part of the group, too.
