Between the rain drops and the penalty flags, the Tabor football team was able to defeat Southwestern Assembly of God University Saturday with a 44-2 win.

The game was cancelled with 12:59 remaining in the fourth quarter because of the threat of lightning.

The Jays racked up 252 yards of total offense on the afternoon. Cameron Conant led the way for Tabor offensively with 99 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns. Quarterback Dave Hernandez threw for 114 yards completing nine passes out of 21.

Tyler Marsh brought some excitement to the stands mid-way through the second quarter when he took a punt 56 yards for a Tabor touchdown.

Defensively, the Bluejays were led by Justin Friesen, who had six tackles, one assist and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Next Saturday Tabor travels to Sterling to take on the Sterling College Warriors. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
