Schmidt, Peters wed in late July

Renae Schmidt and Jason Peters were married July 27 at Grace Hill Mennonite Church in Whitewater with Norma Duerksen, aunt of the groom, officiating the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ralph and Jeanne Schmidt of Whitewater. The groom is the son of Delbert and Janine Peters of Goessel.

Maid of honor was Jill Schmidt, sister of the bride. Best man was Patrick Flaming, friend of the couple.

Bride’s attendants were Jason Schmidt, brother of the bride, and Melissa Lamb, friend of the couple.

Groom’s attendants were Yvette Peters, sister of the groom, and Kent Peters, brother of the groom.

Ushers were Jeremy Entz and Russell Entz, both of Whitewater; Zac Bartel of Great Bend; Monty Graber of Newton; Peter Schlegel of Goshen, Ind.; and Mark Symns of Boulder, Colo.

Gift carriers were Creigh and Landon Bartel, both of Newton; and Daniel Penner of Fountain Hills, Ariz.

Musicians were Karen Schlabaugh of Newton, Karen Unruh of Goessel, Brooke Fischer of Hutchinson and David Baker of Hillsboro.

Program attendants were Brady and Nicholas Peters of Goessel.

The bride wore a soft ivory chiffon dress with an A-line skirt and sweep train. The V-neck bodice had an illusion back and was edged with pearls and embroidery. She carried a cascade of white roses, daisies, delphinium, freesia and ivy.

The reception was held in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony and was hosted by Rod and Linda Peters of Goessel and Randall and Rachel Schmidt of Endora.

Reception assistants were Sheryl Fowler and Kendra Stuever, both of Wichita; Krista Abrahams of Goessel; Kara Dixon of Topeka; Stacey Goering of Newton; and Rachel Hostetler of Dallas.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Goessel High School and earned a degree in music from Bethel College in 2001. She is a vocal music teacher at Santa Fe Middle School in Newton.

The groom is a 1996 graduate of GHS and earned a degree in mathematics and music from Bethel College in 2000. He is a mathematics teacher at Hesston High School.

The rehearsal dinner was held on July 26 at Grace Hill Mennonite Church and was hosted by the groom’s parents.

Following a honeymoon in Arkansas, the couple resides in Hesston.
