Michael Ryan, administrator and chief executive officer at Hillsboro Community Medical Center, presents a $500 scholarship check on behalf of the hospital to Kara Kaufman, a 2002 Hillsboro High School graduate. Kaufman plans to study nursing at Hesston College this fall. Her mother, Nancy Kaufman, a nurse at HCMC, looks on. Danielle Horn also received a $500 scholarship. A 2002 HHS graduate, Horn is studying nursing at Emporia State University.
