The first in a series of public meetings will be held by the Marion County Farm Service Agency office to discuss and inform area farmers on the provisions of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act (FSRIA) or commonly referred to as the 2002-07 Farm Program.

Two meetings to explain and review base acre, yield and benefit-payment policies have been scheduled at the Hillsboro City Building at 118 E. Grand at 7 p.m., Aug. 20, and 9:30 a.m., Aug. 29.

We invite all interested persons to attend, ask questions, and learn of the new choices and options this program offers in order to help them prepare for the upcoming signup season.

As policies with other titles of the Farm Program pertaining to CCC loans, conservation, and disaster assistance are finalized, future meeting sessions will be conducted.

Special accommodations can be made, upon request, for anyone with a disability, hearing or vision impairment by calling Bill Harmon at 620-382-3714.

Bill Harmon is executive director of the Marion County FSA office in Marion.
