Legacy Park is the new name for Peabody Community Living Center, which is now under the ownership of Mid-America Health Centers Inc. of Wichita.
“Mid-America Health Centers has a good record of service,” said Alan Yock, PCLC board chairman. “And we believe they will continue in our tradition of care.”
The change of ownership was effective June 1.
Mid-America is owned by the Wurth family-members of the geriatric and health-care industry in Kansas for a number of years.
Paul Wurth serves as chief executive officer, Charles Wurth is president of Mid-America and will serve as site manager of Legacy Park, and David Wurth will serve as special-projects manager.
Charles Wurth said Mid-America will continue to provide a “personal touch” to the quality of geriatric care at Legacy Park. He said the buildings and grounds will continue to be maintained and improved with the addition of new furniture, equipment and landscaping this summer.
Legacy Park’s Alzheimer’s unit will be upgraded by improving the 27 residential-care apartments and commons area, Charles Wurth said.
The care facility’s program will be expanded to include becoming Medicare certified to expand the physical, occupational and speech-therapy opportunities for residents, he said.
A Home Care program will be started toward the end of this summer, and more private rooms will be available for residents in the nursing unit, he added.
