Pearl Lorenz, 91

Pearl Lorenz, 91, school teacher, died July 7 in Hillsboro.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, at Zion Lutheran Church of Hillsboro with pastor John A. Ryding officiating. Burial will be at Durham Park Cemetery in rural Durham.

She was born Feb. 26, 1911, to Ezra and Katie (Kaiser) Lorenz in rural Durham.

She is survived by her caregiver, Marvin Rediker of Durham; one brother, Clarence Lorenz of Hillsboro; and one sister, Vernedda Klein of Durham.

Charles Maggard, 77

Charles Richard Maggard, 77, car salesman, died July 4 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

The funeral was July 8 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with pastor Bill Sherfy officiating. Burial was at Marion Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 12, 1925, to Henry and Grace (Oxley) Maggard in Wellsville, Ohio. On July 25, 1945, he was married to Helen Kohls, who predeceased him in 1994.

He is survived by two sons, Richard “Dick” Maggard and wife Carol, and Dennis Maggard and wife Janis, all of Marion; one daughter, Tena Reid and husband Jim of Canon City, Colo.; two sisters, Jane Marshall of Dallas and Ruth Householder of Wellsville, Ohio; one brother, James Maggard of Dallas; and four grandchildren.

A memorial was established with Marion County Home Care Services.

Jo Ann Kjellin, 71

Jo Ann Kjellin, 71, homemaker, died July 6 at her home in Marion.

The funeral was July 9 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion with pastors John Goering and Marilyn Cox officiating. Burial was at Marion Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 5, 1931, to Reuben and Sophia Peterson in Clay Center. On April 9, 1950, she was married to Charles Kjellin, who survives.

She is also survived by one son, Doug Kjellin and wife Amy; three daughters, Mary Beth Bowers and husband Greg, Karen Kelly and husband Dale and Patricia Enos and husband Daryl; one sister, Phyllis Dettmer and husband Gene; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials were established with Eastmoor United Methodist Church and Central Homecare and Hospice.
