Signup begins for conservation cost-share

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
The Marion County Conservation District has announced a new sign up for the Water Resources cost-share program. The sign up began May 28 and will continue through June 13.

The Water Resources Program promotes soil and water conservation protection practices.

Beginning in July, new fiscal-year funding will be available for those accepted cost-share practices identified as natural-resource priorities.

The program is funded through the State Conservation Commission and administered by the Marion County Conservation District.

Cost-share assistance is provided to landowners for such conservation practices as diversions, terraces, new or restored grassed waterways and grass seedings.

Interested landowners should contact the Marion County Conservation District at 303 Eisenhower Drive.

All applications will be ranked according to pre-set criteria, which determine those practices that offer the greatest benefit to the county.
