Peters, Unrau compete at NAIA Outdoor Track Championships

Two area track athletes from Bethel College competed at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 23-25 in Olathe.

Yvette Peters sprinted to a personal best of 57.11 to advance to the semifinals of the women’s 400-meter dash. Her time put her among the top 10 sprinters from the 148 NAIA colleges.

Returning to nationals for the second year, Peters was also honored for her academic excellence and recognized as a 2002 NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Athlete. She is a junior accounting major from Hillsboro.

Chad Unrau finished with a time of 55.08 in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, placing him 19th in the country. Unrau is a sophomore from Goessel.
