Move beyond the usual circle of friends
when you’re at church
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit a church with some of my family members. It never dawned on me how much we seem to be stuck in our own circle of friends until that Sunday.
When we walked into the church, nobody came up to us and introduced themselves or even said, “Hello.”
My 6-month-old was fussy, but nobody showed me the nursery. I felt I had to take her outside and sit in my van to feed her.
Don’t get me wrong. The church I attend regularly has its own circle of friends, too.
I never thought about this until this recent incident. I think we all need to work on this. We should be welcoming and friendly in God’s house.
I know when I go to church, I will make an effort to say “Hi” to somebody not in my circle of friends or somebody new, won’t you?
Sometimes we are just too busy and don’t even think about it.
