3 Trojans, 2 Warriors named KABC all-state

Three baseball players from Hillsboro and two from Marion were picked for the Class 3A All-State teams by the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches.

Two Trojans made the First Team. James Bina is a repeat selection for catcher from last season, while Dustin Jost made it as a utility player.

Pitcher Jerod Metcalf was picked for the Second Team.

Marion has two players on the Second Team. Jason Matz was picked for the outfield and Mitch Enos as a pitcher.

The Mid Central Activities Association landed six additional players, all on the First Team. Four players are from Wichita Collegiate: Bill Griffith, pitcher; Dan Dakhil and Zach Troilo, outfield; Rob Ramseyer, designated hitter. The other two players are from Lyons: Brooks Clark, second base; Zach Dobbins, outfield.

Southeast of Saline, who defeated the Trojans by one run in the regional finals, landed two players on the First Team and two on the Second Team. Their coach, Dee Kolzow, was named “Coach of the Year.”
