The Goessel boys’ and girls’ track teams competed in the tough 14-team Heart of America Track Meet in the steady cold drizzle Friday May 10 at Inman.
Jeremy Voth claimed a league high-hurdle championship, followed by sophomore Ben Goering’s second-place finish in the boys’ pole vault extending for 12 feet.
Third-place medals went to Daniel Silbereisen in the 1600-meter run and Voth in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Goessel girls’ top placer was Melinda Stucky with 2nd in high jump at 5 feet.
The 4×400-meter relay came in 4th and the 4×100-meter relay 5th.
“We pulled together to make some good things happen, in spite of being dripping wet,” said Goessel coach Brian Stucky. “A lot of the top-three finishers in our league are going to be at State, I guarantee you, so there’s no shame in a 5th or 6th place today.”
The Bluebirds travel to the 1A Regional at Burlington Friday, May 17.
