ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Two gorgeous days set the stage for some exceptional performances by Tabor track athletes at the KCAC Championships at McPherson College this past weekend.

The Tabor men finished fourth, improving on last season’s seventh-place finish.

The Bluejay women almost claimed a second-place finish, but were edged out by 22/3 points to finish third.

Conference champions on the men’s side included Landon Goertzen, who successfully defended his 800-meter title from a year ago with a time of 1:56.53, and Brad Solorio, who heaved the shot 47-7.

Mandi Whitehead jumped 5-11/3 to win the women’s championship.

Tammy McCarren won the discuss with a throw of 131-5. McCarren also broke her school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 125-3, good for third place.

Angela Jost finished third in the 1,500 meters in 5:01.79. Rachel Evans finished second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.85.

Jimmy Janzen finished second in the high jump by clearing 6-43/4. Teammate Adam Penner finished third at 6-23/4.
