Tampa was among 20 Kansas communities to share a total of almost $5.18 millon in federally funded grants for a variety of community-improvement projects.

Lt. Gov. and Commerce & Housing Secretary Gary Sherrer announced Thursday that Tampa would receive $96,200 to demolish two residential structures and an abandoned school building.

The city contributed $3,829 in local funds.

“These community-improvement grants are designed to help smaller Kansas communities with some of their basic needs,” Sherrer said.

“We are pleased to be able to assist these communities with projects that will have a significant impact on their citizens.”
