Tabor women’s basketball coach Rusty Allen added strength and depth to his team by signing two players this past month.

Tiffany Howell, Aurora, Colo., and Andrea Mendel, Enid, Okla., signed letters of intent to play basketball for the Bluejays.

Howell, a 5-8 wing player, was Colorado’s Class 2A rebounding leader as a freshman and received all-state honorable-mention honors.

The Colorado native averaged 15 points and 13 rebounds per game as a senior.

Allen said Howell will move from the post to the perimeter when she arrives at Tabor.

“She is a great person who will be a fine addition to Tabor in every way,” Allen said. “It is very exciting to have her sign.”

Mendel, a 5-6 senior point guard from Oklahoma Bible Academy, received all-league honors this past season.

She helped her team achieve runner-up status at the Cherokee Strip Tournament and the Alva Tournament one year, and the championship at Alva in 2001.

Allen lauded Mendel’s well-rounded credentials.

“Andrea works hard, plays smart and has outstanding Christian character,” he said.”
