Kostner signs with Bluejays to play basketball

Rachel Kostner, a senior at Mission Valley High School, Eskridge, has signed letters of intent for women’s basketball and track at Tabor College.

Kostner, a 5-10, 150-pound forward and pole vaulter, currently holds her school record for pole vault at 8-6. As a member of the basketball team, she helped her team to second place in the Flint Hills Basketball Tournament, and the track team has earned second place in the Mid-East League Track Meet.

The Tabor coaches in both sports are impressed with Kostner, both on- and off-campus.

“Rachel is a very intelligent player,” said basketball coach Rusty Allen. “She has received great instruction in high school, which should serve her well. She rebounds hard and positions herself on both ends. She is a great student and has a lot to offer Tabor College.”

Track coach David Kroeker said: “We’re looking forward to having her on the track team and adding her to our vault squad. She is a quality person, a great student and someone who will fit in well at Tabor and make a great contribution in the track program and on campus.”
