The Hillsboro Middle School track teams won two titles at the Ellinwood Quadrangular Thursday.
The girls’ and boys’ seventh-grade teams each placed first. The eighth-grade boys finished second while a small eighth-grade girls’ team placed fourth.
The seventh-grade girls, who won seven of 14 events, were led by double victories by JuliAnne Chisholm in the 1,600 meters and 75-meter low hurdles, and by Jessica Heidel in the long jump and 100-meter dash.
Also claiming first place for HMS were Megan Peachey in the 200-meter dash, Sydney Waner in the 400-meter dash, and the 4×100 relay team of Peachey, Tina Frick, Chisholm and Kelsie Penner.
The seventh-grade boys generated three first-place finishes on the way to the team title. Tyler Suderman won the pole vault, Lucas Hamm the discus, and Troy Frick, Hamm, Adam Dirks and Michael Suderman won the 4×100 relay.
The eighth-grade boys placed second on the strength of four first-place finishes. Tim Funk won the high jump and 75-meter hurdles, David Funk won the pole vault, and Kurtis Shaw placed first in the discus.
The best performance from the eighth-grade girls was a 2-3 finish in the discus by Kari Roble and Tiffany Knaak, respectively. Knaak and Jenny Terrell placed third and fourth, respectively, in the shot put.
