Kathleen Hiebert, 93

Kathleen Hiebert, 93, homemaker, died April 16 in San Jose, Calif.

The funeral was April 23 at Lincoln Glen Church in San Jose. Graveside services and burial will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at Belmont Memorial Cemetery in Fresno, Calif.

She was born Feb. 28, 1909, to John R. and Helena Jost in Oklahoma. In 1930, she was married to Daniel Hiebert, who predeceased her.

She is survived by three daughters, Joanne Rafferty, Eldora Warkentin and husband John and Jeanette Rogers and husband Ralph; four sisters, Margaret Goentzel of Fairview, Okla., Edna Janzen of California, Ellen Ewy and husband Ray of Parlier, Calif., and Melinda Smith of Pennsylvania; one brother, Harold Jost and wife Marie of Kansas; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with the Evangel Home in Fresno or contributions may be made to a women’s shelter of choice.

John Fruechting, 96

John Leslie (Les) Fruechting, 96, farmer, died April 14 in Marion.

The funeral was April 18 at Aulne United Methodist Church with pastor Bill Dyar officiating. Burial was at Marion Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 21, 1906, to Theodore and Justine (Klein) Fruechting in rural Aulne. On June 8, 1930, he was married to Ada Krueger, who predeceased him in 1994.

He is survived by his friend and companion, Pearl Kinsinger; four sons, Donald and wife Betty and James and wife Donna, all of Marion, Duane and wife Gloria of Plains and Dwight and wife Donna of Salina; one half-brother, Ted Fruechting of Sedona, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Aulne United Methodist Church and Marion Senior Center.

Alvin Bernhardt, 80

Alvin Bernard Bernhardt, 80, farmer, died April 17 at Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

The funeral was April 20 at Strassburg Baptist Church in Marion with pastor Don Mashburn officiating. Burial was at Strassburg Cemetery in rural Marion.

He was born Jan. 28, 1922 to Henry and Mary (Hill) Bernhardt in rural Marion. On Aug. 3, 1945, he was married to Agnes Quiring, who survives.

He is also survived by one son, Jim Berhnardt and wife Teresa of rural Marion; one daughter, Laurel Acklin and husband Red of El Dorado; three sisters, Verla Cott of Salina, Alvina Skibbe of Newton and Helen Turner of Augusta; and two grandchildren.

A memorial was established with the Strassburg Baptist Church building fund.

Wendy Isaac, 30

Wendy Sue-Ann (Viljoen) Isaac, 30, homemaker, died April 18 in her home in Wichita.

The funeral was April 19 at First Mennonite Brethren Church in Wichita with pastor John Warkentin officiating. Burial was at Springfield Cemetery in rural Lehigh.

She was born April 23, 1971, to Matthew and Muriel Viljoen in Bloemfontein, South Africa. On Nov. 13, 1993, she was married to James Isaac, who survives.

She is also survived by her parents; three sons, Asher, Reuven and Judah; sisters Debbie, Anne MacDonald and husband David, and Beth Fort and husband Kelly; parents-in-law Don and Connie Isaac; and sister-in-law Christy Zimmerman and husband Lance.

Memorials have been established with First Mennonite Brethren Church in Wichita and Tabor College.
