Tabor’s tennis team might have peaked at just the right time.

With the KCAC tournament just around the corner, the Bluejay No. 1 double team picked up two big wins over Friends and Bethel this past week.

The recent surge has head coach Lonnie Isaac optimistic about the conference tourney that is scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Wichita.

“This was a good week for us,” Isaac said. “Our No. 1 doubles team picked up a pair of big wins against Friends and Bethel, and the rest of our lineup continued to play solid. We have put ourselves in a good position heading into the tournament. Depending on what happens in some dual meets this week, it is our hope that we will still be within striking distance of Bethany for the conference title.”

Ryan Camping, Tabor’s No. 1 singles player, defeated Bethel’s Marcel Plexnies 6-4 and 6-2, and lost to Friends’ Ryan Spears 6-4 and 6-2.

The duo of Camping and Scott Friesen defeated Bethel’s Plexnies and Brent Neufeld 6-3 and 6-3, and Friends’ Spears and Dennis Matzen 7-5 and 6-4.
