Bruce Heyen, professor of chemistry at Tabor College, has been selected as a finalist for the position of mentor to the United States Chemistry Olympiad Team.
The Chemistry Olympiad is an international event for high school students. The U.S. team is sponsored by the American Chemical Society, a national organization for chemists.
If chosen for the position of mentor, Heyen will be a coach for the U.S. team. The team undergoes an intense study camp held each summer to prepare for the event.
Heyen learned of this opportunity through his membership in the American Chemical Society. He applied for the position and will be interviewed during April.
