EDITORIAL: Tournament tested

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN DR
We think the Hillsboro boys’ basketball team and the men’s team from Tabor College should hold their heads high, despite disappointing losses in their respective “big dances” a week ago. The Trojans, playing with only one day’s rest after a hard-fought sub-state championship game against Hoisington, simply ran out of gas against Riley County in the Class 3A State Tournament.

Tabor College, meanwhile, having overcome more significant injuries this past season than any team should have to endure, still played well against the No. 2 seeded team at the NAIA Division II men’s tournament in Lookout Point, Mo.

Maybe these players didn’t fulfill their childhood dream to win the biggest championship they could achieve. But both teams accomplished more than the vast majority of their peers.

Be proud of your respective seasons. We are. -DR
