Schmidt, Bartel exchange vows

Jennifer G. Schmidt of Mooreland, Okla., and Jason L. Bartel of Hillsboro were married Oct. 27 at Corn Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn, Okla., with pastor Ken Gardner greeting the guests and pastor Bruce Porter officiating the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Lawanna Schmidt and the granddaughter of Pete Schmidt and Alvina Boese, all of Corn.

The groom is the son of Jim and Sharon Bartel of Hillsboro and grandson of Walter and Bernice Bartel and Bertha Goentzel, all of Lehigh.

Maid of honor was Michelle Schmidt, sister of the bride. Best man was David Kliewer, friend of the groom.

Bridesmaids were Cynthia Pauls, cousin of the bride; Cheryl Pridey, friend of the bride; and Krista Priest, sister of the groom.

Flower girls were Tena Loewen of Hillsboro and Paige Kliewer of Newton.

Bride’s personal attendant was Sara Fast of Thailand. Honorary attendant in abstentia was Joanne Entz, also of Thailand.

Groomsmen were Jason Priest, brother-in-law of the groom; Kerry Hein, friend of the groom; and Ryan Schmidt, brother of the bride.

Ushers were Kenny Pauls, Curtis Goentzel, Ronnie Pauls, Kyle Schmidt and Mark Schmidt, all first cousins of the bride and groom.

Gift carriers were Macy Fadenrecht, Mark Gibson, Valerie Kliewer and Amy Schmidt.

Candlelighters were Kari Sawatzky of Bartlesville, Okla., and Erin Schmidt of Newton.

Guest book attendants were Jamie West of Mooreland, Okla., and Rachel Hein of Hillsboro.

Wedding coordinators were Melody Kliewer of Corn and Sylvia Gibson of Oklahoma City.

Musicians were flutist Sandra Gilliland of Oklahoma City, organist Johanna Frantz of Corn and pianists Renee Kliewer of Corn and Kristin Kliewer of Newton. Vocalists were David Kliewer and Cheryl Pridey.

The bride wore a traditional white satin dress of battenberg lace with a sweetheart neckline and long sleeves. The gown, accented with pearls and iridescent sequins, also featured a chapel-length train detailed with battenberg lace.

The bride’s bouquet was made of cascading white roses accented with yellow flowers and ivy.

The reception was held in the fellowship hall following the ceremony.

Reception assistants were Hayley Abbott and Lori SooHoo, both of Hillsboro; Janice Brown and Christie Carlisle, both of Woodward, Okla.; Kathy Channita of Anaheim, Calif.; and Mary Wiebe of Memphis, Texas.

Following a honeymoon in Niagara Falls, Canada, the couple resides in Hillsboro.
