Helmers celebrate 50th anniversary

Jack and Sylvia (Winter) Helmer of Marion will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 10, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion.

The Helmers were married on March 13, 1952, in Marion with pastor S.D. Hower officiating.

They bought the Marion Marble and Granite Works in 1952 and operated it until their retirement in 1988.

The event will be hosted by their two children, Shirley Groening and husband Gordon of Marion; Ken Helmer and wife Melinda of Wichita; and four granddaughters, Kristin Brenzikofer and husband Matt of Clay Center; Jenny Groening and fiancee Aaron Acree; Leslie Helmer of Lawrence and Lauren Helmer of Wichita.

Friends and relatives are invited, and the couple requests no gifts.
