City worker Gary Penner operates the backhoe as a demolition tool to bring down the Dari-Ette building Wednesday morning. It took a little more than a day to clear the lot. The Dari-Ette opened in 1956 and was a landmark in Hillsboro for more than 45 years. No plans have been announced for the city-owned lot.
