Kara M. Adams and Richard T. Bartow were married Dec. 29 in a candlelight ceremony at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with pastor Steve Rankin, Southwestern College campus pastor, officiating the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Lyman and Marie Adams of Hillsboro. The groom is the son of Dick and Nancy Bartow of Nixa, Mo.
Maid of honor was Arvilla Bennett of Wellington. Best man was Kevin Bartow, brother of the groom.
Bridesmaids were Lisa Reynolds of Wellington; Heather Lengerich of Craig, Colo.; Kristy Adams, sister-in-law of the bride; Cara Bartow, sister of the groom; and Megan Anderson, cousin of the bride.
Flower girl was Grace Bagby, cousin of the bride.
Bride’s personal attendant was Hannah Leach of Romsey, United Kingdom. Ceremony coordinator was Sharon Dies of Lehigh.
Groomsmen were Josh Smith of Tulsa, Okla.; Jacob Tuttle of Cashing, Okla.; and Kyle and Kane Adams, brothers of the bride. Ringbearer was Daniel Bagby, cousin of the bride.
Ushers were Branden Banks of Herington; Trent Bartow and Nicklas Moss, cousins of the groom; Erik Anderson, cousin of the bride; and Ryan Rusco of Argonia.
Gift carriers were Peter Ruggles and Steve and Veva Ruggles, all of Winfield. Celebration attendants were Hayley Carter and Graham Pankratz, both of Hillsboro.
Candlelighters were Jennifer Mohn and Amy Pschigoda, both of Hillsboro.
Musicians were organist Kathy Decker of Hillsboro, pianist Robyn Unruh of Manhattan. Vocalists were Carlin Regier of Hillsboro and Martin Rude of Winfield.
The bride wore a white off-the-shoulder, A-line dress made of matte satin enhanced with Battenburg lace. The gown featured a chapel-length train with lace embellishments of scalloped poinsettia flowers.
The bride’s bouquet was made of white roses, pink bovardia, spray roses and freesia in a symmetrical cascade.
The reception was held at the Hillsboro American Legion following the ceremony.
Hosts were Larry and Nancy Cartmill, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Norman and Susan Rasa, uncle and aunt of the groom.
Reception assistants were Jill Anderson, aunt of the bride; Andrew Dies of Lehigh; and Eileen Butler, Sarah Donahue and Mindy Duerksen, all of Hillsboro.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Hillsboro High School and is a senior at Southwestern College in Winfield. She is a student teacher at Deerfield Elementary in Lawrence.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of Nixa High School in Nixa and a 2001 graduate of Southwestern College. He is attending Washburn University School of Law in Topeka.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at Olde Town Restaurant in Hillsboro.
Following a honeymoon in Cozumel, Mexico, the couple resides in Lawrence.
