Richmond wins county spelling bee

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Jeff Richmond (left), an eighth-grader at Marion Middle School, won the Marion County Spelling Bee Feb. 13 at Goessel Middle/High School. Richmond stands next to second-place winner Greta Kliewer, eighth-grader from Kliewer Home School, and third-place winner Cody Blackletter, fifth-grader at Jacob’s Ladder Academy.

Richmond and Kliewer battled it out for first place until Richmond won the event by correctly spelling “superlative,” which gives him the opportunity to go to the state finals in Topeka in April.
