Bluebird girls split two games

The Goessel girls split two home games last week.

The Bluebirds fell to Sedgwick, 55-47, Tuesday night, but picked up a 52-35 win against Ell-Saline on Friday.

Goessel grabbed an early lead against Ell-Saline and led by 20 at halftime. Tara Goerzen headed up Goessel’s scoring with 21 points. Melinda Stucky added 15.

The Sedgwick Cardinals got the best of Goessel on Tuesday, 55-47.

The Bluebirds were held scoreless in the first quarter, while Sedgwick rolled up 17 points against their hosts.

Goessel used a 9-2 run in the second quarter to help narrow the margin to nine points at intermission.

The Bluebirds continued to claw back but fell short down the stretch.

Stucky poured in 27 points to lead the Bluebird attack.
