The Marion Warriors split their varsity games with Wichita Trinity Tuesday night in Wichita.

A late free throw by Trinity proved to be the difference in the girls’ game as the home team prevailed, 41-40. Maggie Powers led Marion’s offensive attack with 12 points.

The loss evened Marion’s season record at 9-9 and left them 5-3 in the Cottonwood Valley League.

The boys, meanwhile, had an easier time of it. Braxton Skiles score 25 points and Robert Verbic 18 as the Warriors rolled past Trinity, 68-56.

The Warriors are 12-6 overall and 6-2 in the CVL.
