The Hillsboro Middle School eighth-grade girls ended their season with a 27-23 loss to Halstead in the MCAA league tournament Feb. 2.
Hillsboro led after one quarter, 5-4, but trailed at halftime, 12-11. After three quarters, Halstead led by only two, 20-18.
HMS was given opportunities in the final period, but made only one of six free-throw attempts; Halstead made one of two.
JuliAnne Chisholm led the Trojans with 13 points, including one 3-pointer. Laura Skiles added six points, and Courtney Foth and Chelsi Harmon scored two each.
