TC men and women swept at Sterling

The Tabor men’s and women’s hoops teams came home from Sterling Monday night with two losses-including a thrilling double-overtime battle in the men’s game.

Tabor men-Tabor entered Monday’s game with a two-game lead in the KCAC, but the Warriors defeated the Bluejays, 87-80, in double-overtime to hand the Bluejays their third conference loss.

Sterling took a 31-16 lead into the locker room at halftime.

But the Bluejays came back in the second half and tied the game at 61 with seconds remaining. Grant Brubacher’s 3-point shot at the buzzer rimmed out sending the game into the first overtime period.

Both teams scored six points in the first overtime period. Tyson Ratzlaff’s 20-footer rimmed out to send the game into a second extra period.

The Warriors and Bluejays battle back and forth. A two-point margin was all that separated them with less than a minute to go.

But Sterling drove home three slam dunks in the last minute and walked away with a seven-point win.

Tabor’s Ernest Nortey had 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists in the Tabor loss. Scott Brubacher and Tyson Ratzlaff each had 13 points.

Scott Brubacher and Nortey eventually fouled out of the contest.

Tabor women-The Bluejay women gave the No. 1 team in the KCAC a scare in the first half, but eventually fell to the Warriors, 78-50.

Angela Kroeker had 16 points, five rebounds, one assist and a steal in the losing cause.
