HHS boys win, girls lose at Collegiate Friday

Tyler Weinbrenner scored 27 points, including 12 in a decisive third quarter, to lead the Trojans past Wichita Collegiate, 64-48, Friday in Wichita.

The Trojans led by three points at the end of the first quarter, 14-11, then stretched the lead to 10 points at halftime on five points by Weinbrenner in the last 23 seconds of play.

After a slow start by both teams in the third quarter, the Trojans went on a 15-6 run over the last four minutes and pulled ahead, 48-35, then slowly increased the lead through the final quarter.

With the win, HIllsboro moves to 14-1 on the season.

The girls meanwhile came out flat again and fell behind for most of the game. They trailed 8-5 after one quarter, 20-12 at the half and 32-27 after three quarters.

In the last four minutes of the game, the Trojans finally picked up their intensity and pulled to within in one point in the final minute, but could not pull out the win. Shannon Kroeker, with 13 points, was the Trojans only scorer in double figures.

With the loss, the Trojans are 12-3 on the season.
