Marion splits two games against Sacred Heart

Steph Wittman’s 25 points proved to be too much for the Warrior girls Friday night at home in a 55-47 loss to Sacred Heart.

The Warriors trailed the entire game, and threatened to take the lead mid-way through the third quarter.

But the Knights took care of the ball and made their shots when they counted to hand the Warriors their second CVL loss of the year.

Marion’s Krista Zogelman had 19 points to lead the Warrior offensive attack.

The Marion girls are 8-8 overall and 4-2 in the CVL.

The Marion boys’ basketball team held off the Sacred Heart Knights Friday night with a 50-45 win.

The Knights made a late-game comeback with less than two minutes remaining in the game, but the Warriors hit their free throws down the stretch to grab their fourth CVL win of the year.

Marion’s Jason Matz led all scorers with 16 points. Braxton Skiles added 15 in the Warrior win.

The Marion boys are 10-6 overall and 4-2 in the CVL.

The Warriors will travel to Herington next Friday night to battle the Railers.
