Goessel’s Peters has 27, but Burrton nips Goessel boys’ team at home 63-60

Kent Peters’ season-high 27 points wasn’t enough to propels the Goessel Bluebirds past the Burrton Chargers Friday night at home.

Goessel fell to the Chargers 63-60.

The Bluebirds trailed 26-15 early in the second quarter, but cut down on their turnovers and forced Burrton to miss some shots giving Goessel their first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter.

With 1:05 remaining in regulation, Clinton Plennert hit a shot to give the Bluebirds a 55-51 advantage.

Burrton came back and scored five straight points and Goessel converted one of three free throws to knot the game up at 56, sending the game into overtime.

In overtime, the Chargers jumped out to a four-point lead, but the Bluebirds battled back and tied the game 60-60 with two Kent Peter’s free throws with 40 seconds to play.

With two seconds remaining, Burrton’s Josh Urban hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the chargers a 3-point win.

Peters’ 27 points was complimented by Plennert’s 21 point performance. Jeremy Voth added 10 points in the loss.

Burrton’s Urban had 27-points in the Charger victory.

Coming-The Bluebirds are 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the HOA.

The Bluebirds hosted Berean Academy yesterday and travels to Trinity on Friday.
