Tabor sweeps St. Mary; men alone atop KCAC

The Tabor College men beat their closest rival in the KCAC — and did it in an extemely difficult place to play. The Bluejays got 21 points from Scott Brubacher and 18 from Jimmy Janzen to beat the Spires, 82-70, in Leavenworth.

St. Mary, which came into the game tied with Tabor for first in the KCAC with identical 6-2 records, led 35-33 at half, but the Bluejays held the upper hand over the final 20 minutes.

The Jays are now 7-2 in the conference and 9-10 overall.

The Tabor women, meanwhile, won their game, 51-42. The Jays led at intermission, 51-42. Rachelle Speers once again led the team in scoring, this time with 15 points. Carmen Hein was right behind with 13.

With the win, the women are 5-4 in the conference and 9-10 overall.
