Sadie Bernhardt to celebrate 90 years

The 90th birthday of Sadie Bernhardt will be celebrated with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27, at Eastmore United Methodist Church.


The reception will be hosted by her daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Dick Schwartz .


Bernhardt was born in 1912 on a farm southwest of Marion. She attended Tabor College and later served for 25 years in the community with her husband, Albert, in the Marion Hardware and Gift Shop.


She served for 25 years as superintendent of the Children’s Sunday School Department at Eastmore United Methodist Church. Bernhardt also taught school at Square Top, Aulne, Youngtown, Quarry, Bown Corby and Marion Junior High School.


The family requests no gifts but encourages friends, relatives and former students to help celebrate.
