More than 80 people attended a presentation about the Muslim religion by Abdelkarim Jibril, president of the Islamic Association of Mid Kansas at Wichita, at First Mennonite Church Sunday evening. “Tolerance and understanding of religions other than one’s own is as important as understanding (your own beliefs),” Jibril said. Jibril (pictured left) and his son, Karim Jibril (right), visit with Lowell Peachey of Hillsboro (center) following the presentation and a question-and-answer session. “We’re sitting here in central, Kansas, and (wanted to know) what we can do to further peacemaking in the world,” Peachey said about the church’s decision to invite Jibril to speak. Peachey served as moderator for the evening. Abdelkarim Jibril is an engineer at LearJet Inc. in Wichita, and Karim Jibril works as a social worker at Youthville United Methodist.
