Trojans beat Inman in Classic opener; TMP is their next test

After a scare in the first half of Monday’s first-round matchup with Inman in the Trojan Classic, the Hillsboro coasted to a 63-38 win over the Teutons.

Hillsboro got off to a fast start in the first quarter, netting 21 points to Inman’s 13.

But in the second period, the Trojans were held to just seven points while Inman tacked on 11 points of their own.

After intermission, Hillsboro’s Andy Brubacher and Tyler Weinbrenner each supplied unanswered 3-pointers early in the third quarter to extend the Trojan lead.

After another Brubacher 3, the Trojans pulled away with a comfortable 14-point lead.

Layne Frick’s jumper gave Hillsboro a 20-point lead and they never looked back.

Weinbrenner paced the Hillsboro offense with 19 points. Frick added 10 for the Trojans.

Coming-The Trojans will face Thomas Moore Prep in the semifinals Friday night. TMP defeated Sunrise Christian Academy prior to the Hillsboro win.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday night.
