HMS seventh-graders split games at Moundridge

The Hillsboro Middle School seventh-grade boys split a pair of games at a one-day tournament in Moundridge Saturday.

The Trojans defeated the home team, 23-19. David Funk scored 11 points to lead the HMS squad. Also scoring were Mike Bodiford, Adam Dirks and Tyler Suderman, each with three points, and Jesse Boucher with two points and John Vineski with one.

In the other contest, the Trojans lost to Inman, 21-18. This time Peter Fast led the HMS attack with 10 points. Bodiford added eight, Vineski four and Dirks two.

“We held the lead most of the first half, then missed a lot of easy shots in the second half that would have made the difference in the outcome,” coach Shawn Winter said.

HMS boys’ and girls’ teams resumed their regular season Monday with games against Marion. Results were not available at press time.

On Thursday, the teams compete against Hesston. The Trojan boys will play at home and the girls will play on the road.
