Linda Covey, 81




Linda Covey, 81, waitress, died Dec. 31 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.


The funeral was Jan. 3 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with pastor Bob Call officiating. Burial was at Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery.


She was born Sept. 22, 1920, to Jake and Hattie Guhr Martens in rural Lehigh.


She is survived by one son, Byron McCarty of Hillsboro; two brothers, Alvin Martens of Lehigh and Harvey Martens of Park City; three sisters, Frieda Birkle and Elda Pschigoda, both of Hillsboro, and Anna Smith of Wichita; and two grandchildren.


A memorial was established with the Linda Covey Memorial Fund for Renal Care Group of Newton.




Catherine Hunter, 50




Catherine J. Hunter, 50, died Jan. 4 at HCA Welsey Medical Center in Wichita.


A graveside service was held Jan. 6 at Enloe Cemetery in Russellville, Mo.


She was born May 17, 1951, to H.D. and Thelma Thorburn Luallen in Marion.


She is survived by her parents; a daughter, Rebecca McGuffin of Norman, Okla.; two brothers, Hubert Luallen of Hobbs, N.M., and Charlie Luallen of Orange, Calif.; and one grandchild.


A memorial was established with the American Diabetes Association.




Melvin Luallen, 48




Melvin J. “Buster” Luallen, 48, died Dec. 29 at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.


A graveside service was held Jan. 3 at Campbell Cemetery in Russellville, Mo. Burial was at Campbell Cemetery.


He was born March 28, 1953, to H.D. and Thelma Thorburn Luallen in Compton, Calif.


He is survived by his parents of Marion; two brothers, Hubert Luallen of Hobbs, N. M., and Charlie Luallen of Orange, Calif.


A memorial has been established with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.




Hermon Koehn, 85




Hermon Koehn, 85, carpenter and farmer, died Jan. 4 at Decendent’s Residence in Burns.


The funeral was Jan. 7 at Eden Mennonite Church with pastors Vernon Koehn, Tobe Koehn, Lowell Koehn and Alvin Koehn officiating. Burial was at Eden Mennonite Cemetery.


He was born Feb. 19, 1916, to Aaron and Helen Smith Koehn in Montezuma. On Nov. 8, 1936, he was married to Luvina Smith, who survives.


He is also survived by five sons, Robert Koehn of rural Galva, Gilbert Koehn of Moundridge, Laurel Koehn of Farmington, Ky., and Roger Koehn and Chester Koehn, both of Burns; two brothers, Gene Koehn of Winton, Calif., and Howard Koehn of Burns; two sisters, Lorraine Giesbrecht of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Pearl Koehn of Lobelville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.


A memorial was established with Eden Christian School.




Gabrielle McCombs




Gabrielle Ryan McCombs, eight days old, died Jan. 3 at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.


The funeral was Jan. 7 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with pastor Tim Sullivan officiating. Burial and graveside service was at Peace Valley Cemetery in rural Durham.


She was born Dec. 26 to Tara A. Redger and Michael L. McCombs of Hillsboro.


She is survived by her parents; one brother, Michael L. McCombs, Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C.; grandparents Bob and Barbara Diaz of Lehigh, DeeAnn Redger of Newton; great-great grandparents Elmer and Juanita McCombs of Lehigh, Gene and Jaraine Redger of Newton and Beverly Wallace; great-great-grandparents Harry and Verna Decker of Tampa and Opal Owen of Concordia.


A memorial has been established with the Gabrielle McCombs Memorial Trust Fund at Great Plains Credit Union in Hillsboro and Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit at HCA Wesley Medical Center.




Charlotte Price, 88




Charlotte A. Price, 88, homemaker, died Dec. 27 at Kansas Masonic Home in Wichita.


The funeral was Jan. 5 at Olson’s Mortuary in Canton. Private burial of cremains was at Canton Township Cemetery.


She was born Jan. 13, 1913, to Floyd Ivan and Nora Belle Sellers Tinsley in Canton. In 1935, she was married to Fred Williams who died in 1954. In 1957 she was married to Bill Price who predeceased her in 1967.


She is survived by two brothers, Stanley Tinsley of Canton and Elwood Tinsley of Wichita; and one sister, Fern Stapelman of Tucson, Ariz.


A memorial has been established with Kansas Masonic Home.


Clidy Wedel, 86




Clidy Wedel, 86, retired farmer, died Dec. 31 at Moundridge Manor.


The funeral was at United Center Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Galva with pastors David Koehn and Orville Koehn officiating. Burial was at the United Center Church Cemetery.


He was born Oct. 24, 1915, to Jacob H. and Lena Becker Wedel in rural Canton. On June 16, 1940, he was married to Bertha June Becker, who survives.


He is also survived by four sons, Stuart Wedel of Canton, Marlin Wedel of Transylvania, La., Errol Wedel of Aberdeen, Miss., and Cyrus Wedel of Galva; two daughters, Annabel Schroeder of Hardensburg, Ind., and Berneil Smith of West Point, Miss.; one brother, Irby Wedel of Canton; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.


A memorial was established with Moundridge Manor.




Raymond Zimmerman, 81




Raymond LeRoy Zimmerman, 81, retired farmer, died Dec. 31 at Big Springs Care Center in Humansville, Mo.


The funeral was Jan. 4 at Weaubleau First Baptist Church with pastor Eugene Roberts officiating. Burial was at Robinson Cemetery in Wheatland, Mo.


He was born Oct. 27, 1920, to Samuel and Nannie Ollenburger Zimmerman in Hillsboro.


He is survived by his wife, Althea Zimmerman; three sons, Lee Zimmerman of Springfield, Mo., Jay Zimmerman of Tulsa, Okla., and Sam Zimmerman of Weaubleau; four daughters, Diana Dollar of Monroe, La., Connie Bruce of Nevada, Mo., Beth Platte of Reeds Spring, Mo., and Renee Markey of Allendale, Mich.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
