The bright dawn of a new day and a new year

Set off by a mirror of thin ice, the sun peaks above the horizon as seen from the bridge just north of Durham Cove at Marion Reservoir. Weather forecasters predicted the new year would be welcomed with cold temperatures-but still no measurable moisture. The sunny weather has been a welcomed change from many late-fall seasons, but the lack of moisture has hurt the wheat crop and prompted Marion County commissioners to continue its burn ban into the new year.
