The Marion girls basketball team met face-to-face with a talented Sacred Heart team Thursday night falling 62-53.

Knight’s sharp-shooter Step Wittman exploded for a game-high 26 points to lead Sacred Heart over the CVL-leading Warriors.

Marion’s Krista Zogelman had 19 points in the losing effort and Brandi Peterie added 10.

The Warriors are 2-1 in the CVL and 3-4 overall.

The Warrior boys picked up their second conference win with a 55-41 win over the Sacred Heart Knights Thursday in Salina.

Marion got a huge boost off the bench from Keith Dudley, who led all scorers with 12 points.

Despite a late-quarter rally, the Warriors held off the Knights to extend their CVL record to 2-1 and their overall record to 4-3.

After Christmas break, both Warrior teams will begin action January 4 against Herington at home.
