A record Holiday Home Tour

Beautiful balmy weather contributed to what is believed to be a record turnout for the Holiday Home Tour, sponsored Sunday afternoon by the Hillsboro Arts & Crafts Association. The precise number of participants is hard to pin down, planners said. Proceeds from ticket sales indicated about 580 participated, according to Colleen Koop, a member of the organizing committee. She said the committee had to create makeshift tickets because they had not printed enough. Meanwhile, family members in at least two of the five homes on the tour kept count on their own. One said they gave up counting sometime after 700 while another came up with a total of 831. “It was an extremely good turnout,” said Judy Klein of the committee. Proceeds from the event will go toward the city’s summer drama program for kids.
